WALCOTT UNUSED AGAINST ASTON VILLA

Englishman Theo Walcott was left on the bench for the entire duration of the Premier League clash between his Southampton side and Aston Villa last week Friday. Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl has switched his focus to the young players since last season thus giving experienced players such as Theo Walcott lesser playing time. Walcott returned to Southampton for his second spell at the club in the summer of 2020. The England international joined the Saints on loan from fellow Premier League team Everton two years ago before the loan deal was made permanent last summer. His last year as an Everton player was spent on loan with theSaints thus paving the way for him to be signed as a free transfer on a two-year deal at the start of last season.

Theo Walcott has been a regular on the Southampton bench as far as the Premier League scene is concerned this season. He was on the bench for the Saints as they suffered defeatagainst Villa at Villa Park. Young Englishman Ramsey scored the only goal of the game four minutes from the half-time break.
With the defeat against Aston Villa, Southampton have now suffered two defeats in a row and four defeats in seven Premier League games this season. They tasted their first defeat on the opening weekend after Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to record a 4-1 victory at home. The Saints suffered their second defeat when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Manchester United. They have lost their last two games in the Premier League by a lone goal.
