WALCOTT IN EURO SQUAD

Many expected Theo Walcott to miss out on the Euro 2012 after injuring his hamstring severely in the match against Chelsea a few weeks ago. Theo Walcott refused to come out off the pitch, despite being diagnosed with a hamstring problem.

Arsene Wenger later criticised the England midfielder by saying that he should not stretch himself too much beyond the limit. It was expected that they are Walcott would be unavailable for the new manager to pick for the Euro 2012. However, just before the West Brom match, the final match of the season for Arsenal, it was revealed that Theo Walcott could be back into the first-team reckoning.

It has proven to be the case and new England manager Roy Hodgson has wasted no time in including the Arsenal winger into the Euro 2012 squad. Along with Theo Walcott, the latest sensation in Arsenal colours Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will also be in the major competition at Poland and Ukraine. John Terry has been included by Roy Hodgson, which has led to the lack of Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand. Previously, it was thought that both John Terry and Rio Ferdinand have decided to put behind their differences for the benefit of the team, but the United defender will be a major miss at the Euro 2012.

"It's not been an easy squad to put together. But I'm pleased with the squad I've put together and I think it's a well-balanced squad. I know him as a player and a person and how committed he is to the England cause. He will help me build the team unity and environment we need to thrive in a tournament," said boss Roy Hodgson after announcing his 23 man squad for the Euro 2012, and also saying that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will also lead the country.
