WALCOTT ADMITS NERVES WITH HENRY

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has said that he was nervous at times while playing along with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Henry is thought to be one of the greatest strikers to have ever played for Arsenal. Henry also recently had a statue unveiled in commemoration with his various achievement for Arsenal over the years. The striker now plays for MLS side New York red Bulls, but Theo Walcott says that one of the main reasons for him underachieving in the past was Henry.

Theo Walcott now famously wears the number 14 shirt excited by the French legend, and he concedes that he struggled to perform alongside Thierry Henry due to the pressure of failing. Theo Walcott says that he considers Henry to be his idol, and that playing alongside him was a great pressure indeed. “It’s an absolute honour to be part of it and to see the number of legends taking part in the day made it very daunting. There were a lot of worldclass players on the field. Everyone was really up for it. We had a job to do, we couldn’t be too into it, we tried to forget about it a little bit on the pitch,” said Walcott.

Arsenal were extremely nervous on the pitch during the 1-0 win over Everton during the weekend. This match also coincided with the celebrations for the 125th year at Arsenal. Normally, such celebrations usually provoke mixed response amongst the teams, and they usually result in the home team losing the match.

Despite being nervous, Arsenal managed to eek out the 1-0 win to keep their incredible Premier League run going. Despite suffering a defeat in the Champions League against Olympiacos, Arsenal returned to winning ways with the win over Everton, which also pushed them into the top four of the League.
