HENRY: WALCOTT POSITION NOT CLEAR

Theo Walcott has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer, following his lack of enough playing time last season and a bigger blow when he was snubbed from England’s Euro 2016 squad set to play in France.

The England international has always agitated to be the pointman for the Gunners. He was offered the spot last season as he had his eyes set to join-in in the continental championship. It didn’t work out for the player and he even tried out other positions. He was eventually overlooked and didn’t even make the provisional list.

The player who would have preferred a less free summer time has even hired a new personal trainer as he knows his position in the team is not certain. Andros Townsend who was battling relegation from top flight football with Newcastle was even chosen ahead of him by England Manager Roy Hodgson, before he was eventually dropped. Red Devils youngster Marcus Rashford also made the plane to France ahead of Walcott.

After his disappointing season in terms of performances and attitude, despite raking in estimated £140,000-a-week after signing a new deal in 2015, opinions are less divided if the star player should remain at the club. The current betting odds at StanJames show that the bookies think that Walcott will end up staying at the Emirates.

Even as frustrations grew with another failed title challenge, Walcott does not have a defined position, despite being 27years and a 10-year veteran of the club. This forced the club’s legend to comment.

Henry said “Walcott has been in the game for 10 years, you should know about him. You always have something to prove, he should know what he can offer to a team. By now he should know what his position is, but it is not clear."

He spent most of his career playing wide right but Wenger has been reluctant to use him there this season. He spent time on the left this season but was not very effective. When Olivier Giroud had his goal drought, Walcott couldn’t take the chance in the leading striker role. This made him sit out of games a lot. Many have started calling for his sale and he is aware.
