Wenger is hoping that Theo Walcott will shine

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger is wishing and expecting to see Theo Walcott stand out in this new season.

Throughout Walcott’s career as an Arsenal player, he has never managed to live up to the expectations of his manager and as each season passes by, the amount of assists and goals that Walcott has made is not a very surprising amount.

During the Premier League season of 2015-16, Theo Walcott could only muster to score 5 goals and provide his teammates with 2 assists, the English winger managed to do this in 28 league appearances.

In the majority of Theo Walcott’s seasons performing for Arsenal, his statistic have been this underwhelming but according to Arsene Wenger, this new Premier League season of 2016-17 might be the one when Walcott is able to change things and be different than any other season before.

"I said before the season started that we will get a different Theo Walcott this year. If he can maintain that focus, that desire and that fighting attitude then he will have a great season.I hope he has no setback because he is an intelligent player, he is focused and has a great desire to prove his critics wrong and he's on a good way.’’ Arsene Wenger said.

Back in August, Theo Walcott himself stated that he is going to be working extra hard in training with hopes of getting back to full fitness and avoid getting injured or anything of this nature. Injuries is something that has consistently affected Walcott and left him unable to play not only for Arsenal but also for the England national football team as there have been occasions when he has not been able to represent his national side in certain competitions but he is hoping that this not occur in the current season.
